Easter Eggs

I decided that this is the year to start a common family tradition:

Dying Easter Eggs!

As you can see in the pics below, we had an almost-successful first go at it!

The eggs are cooked & ready to be dyed! (or so I thought...turns out I must not have let them boil long enough. Garrett inadvertently cracked an egg, and a little bit oozed out - oh well! Guess we won't be bogged down with hard-boiled eggs!)

Reece's first egg!
He watched his egg very intently - and only turned his fingers a little green!
Garrett's first eggs - he has one egg in each colored cup. Of course, he started with the Green cup!
Don't you love Garrett's outfit? He's in his favorite tee from last summer, which I recently pulled out of storage, his new "basketball shorts", and his boot socks, which he now calls his "basketball socks" (because that's what the Jayhawks & Shockers wear).
The finished product.

Checking out the eggs.
Both boys decided to kiss the eggs too!
We did have 1 little mishap - Garrett slipped in his chair & sent the blue dye cup flying! Most of the liquid landed in Reece's lap - and he was strapped into a booster, so it took a bit for me to free him. He came away with some smurf-blue smudges on his legs. Fortunately his arms & blonde hair were spared from the ocean blue spray!

A few more blue spots.

Corn dog Muffins

In an effort to find more “fun” food that they boys will actually eat, I searched one of my favorite sites, Pinterest, and found this recipe for Corndog Muffins!

The steps to prepare are extremely easy:
1 pkg Corn Bread Mix (and its required ingredients)
2-3 hot dogs, chopped
1 handful Cheese

Prepare cornbread mix according to package directions, then add hot dogs and cheese.
Pour into greased muffin tins & bake according to package directions.
The mix that I use is for 6 muffins, and with the added ingredients it made 9.

(Please forgive the gunky-looking muffin pan - it's one of the most-used items in my kitchen. Thanks to my sister for gifting it to me many Christmases ago!)

Success! Both boys loved this variation of their beloved corn dog. Reece mostly enjoyed picking the hot dogs out of the muffin, but Garrett gobbled his right up!

YUM!

Daddy & His Boys

Steve & Garrett headed out to Grandma Jackson's house to help Uncle Billy with a hunt. Before they left I snapped a pic of my hunting buddies. (Reece made sure he got in on Daddy-Time too. )

Fire truck surprise

Garrett has had some very good days at daycare lately, ie good listening, being a good leader, no hitting/arguing, etc. So we have been giving him little rewards for good behavior. Yesterday he got to go to the main office where Steve works to see a fire truck the crew has been working on. He also got to see the PK Rescue truck. I think the smiles in these pictures show how much loved it.

Introducing...The Boys!

Welcome to My 2 Jackson Boys!

This is a blog entirely dedicated to my boys, Garrett and Reece. My original blog started out as KimCreates, a place to share my love of all things crafty. However, after my first son was born, my craft blog transitioned into a highlight reel of baby boy.

So, now that my second son is going on 2 years old, and I haven't been doing anything remotely crafty to blog about, I decided to start this new collection of pictures and stories about my boys to share with family and friends, near and far. I hope you will enjoy the journey!

(I do hope to get back to my craftabilities someday soon. So I am not completely eliminating the other blog - just putting on "pause" for a while.)
