First Grill

Last weekend we decided it was finally the right time to break out Grandma Jackson's grill so we loaded up & headed out to the country!

Steve got the charcoal going and then it was burger time!
Garrett served as supervisor of Steve's grilling, overseeing the correct done-ness of the hot dogs.
Grandma's Tulips were in full-bloom, so Reece and I checked them out together. He was very gentle with the flowers - it was sweet.
Garrett also enjoyed collecting acorn shells in his dump truck...
...and unloading them at the "dump".
Wee! Reece made a few trips down the slide while waiting for supper.

Week of the Young Child Balloon launch

This week is a nationally recognized week for young children that our Daycare celebrates annually. It's called The Week of the Young Child. Following is an excerpt from the national website:

"The Week of the Young Child™ is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The purpose of the Week of the Young Child™ is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. The 2013 Week of the Young Child™ is April 14–20 and the theme is Early Years Are Learning Years®."

All week long, the boys' daycare is celebrating with special activities for the kids. Today the kiddos had a balloon launch to kick off the week!
Reece behind bars! I hope this does not become a common view for our little buckaroo! Reece & his friends (including his pal Stella, also pictured) have their very own play area on the playground. Their area is fenced-in so that they are not tempted to play on the "Big Kid" toys. I'm thinking Reece was pretty excited to see his Mama!
Garrett & his ladies! He is often the only boy in a room full of girls! But I can see here that his eyes are on the lone green balloon - not the cuties on either side of him!
Reece also got a green balloon!
Surprisingly, most of the kids in Reece's class held onto their balloons until just before it was time to release them! You can see Reece's buddy, Carsen, with a red balloon! They were Super-Excited!
Garrett is ready to go!
The Release!
There goes Garrett's Green Balloon!

It was very pretty to see the balloons fill the sky!
YAY!
After the balloons were out of sight it was time for juice!

Mama's Boy

I LOVE this guy!

Easter 2013

We had a Wonderful Easter Sunday this year - and the weather couldn't have been nicer! Steve and Garrett went to "the hill" to see the sun rise and sing songs with family and friends from the churches of Rosalia. Garrett was pleased to sing his favorite, "Up From the Grave HE Arose!"

When they returned home, the boys hunted around the house to find what the Easter Bunny left them...

Reece was happy with his very own tablet. Now he (hopefully) won't try to steal brother's away from him! Smart Bunny!
A LEGO FIRETRUCK! Who knew they made such tiny little LEGO pieces???

Hmmm...the Easter Bunny was SMART this year - NO Candy was found in the baskets! (He saved it all for the egg hunt pictured below...)

The afternoon was spent at Grandma Jackson's with family and LOTS of food!

Cousin Courtney & the Darren Jackson family know how to spoil the boys with cute candy-filled eggs in a basket!

Time for the hunt...Garrett & Reece got off easy this year. They were the only "little" kids so they got the entire front yard to themselves! The "Big" kids hunted eggs in the back yard.
Daddy helped Reece find his eggs while Mama took pictures.
On an Egg Mission with Aunt Deanna nearby to unload extra eggs into a sack when the fire truck was full!

The boys actually took a brief minute to pose for a pic for Mama!
After the egg hunt, Cousin D.J. kept Reece entertained. I think Reece is saying "Faster!"
Just before we left for home, Uncle Darren invited us to his house to meet the new baby calves. Garrett wasn't too sure about feeding the bottle to an anxious calf.
